Building a website

web-under-constructionBuilding a website for your business that showcases your products and services can be both a daunting and a rewarding task. Typically, your website is an online version of your promotional pamphlet – only it can do so much more.

Most business websites are the equivalent to having an online store. There will typically be a list of products and services, a written description of the benefits and features of each (specs), photos and prices along with payment and shipping options. Important details such as contact information, location, and hours of operation will also be included.

Some websites act more like a portfolio with photos of past work along with descriptions and possibly some video. Other sites are more like a resume – service professionals can benefit from this type of approach.

Having a well-designed site is one of the most important investments you can make for your business. You can have your site designed by independent web contractors, or companies that specialize in web design or you can invest time and energy and do it yourself.

In the next chapter we will look at cost range options.
