Marketing – driving traffic to your site and being ready for it when it gets there
In a similar way that you want to attract business through your front doors, in cyberspace, your website IS your front door. So all of your online business and other advertising activities should have one focus and that is to get people to go to your website so they will buy your products.
There are a number of different ways to accomplish this. One way is to use social media campaigns to send people to your website. This can be accomplished by instigating or joining an online discussion which discusses the benefits and features of your product or service – or even just a similar product or service. The key is to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Facebook, twitter and LinkedIn are all great places to have these public, online conversations.
Other visitors – businesses and individuals – will ‘like’ you on Facebook or ‘follow’ you on Twitter, and in doing so all of their contacts will learn about your business and so-on and so-on. This is what is meant by ‘viral marketing’ and ‘driving traffic to your site’.
Another effective way to drive traffic to your site is to publish frequent, relevant content to your site – this will help to ensure that you continue to rank at the top of search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
